DRAW

When did I start drawing? Quite literally from the cradle. Family legend has it that I was not a fan of sleeping. They decided to leave crayons and pencils in my cot so that when I would wake at odd or early hours, I would be able to entertain myself. Apparently, this tactic worked, but I soon decided that my creativity should not be contained to paper. I covered the walls above my cradle in a kaleidoscope of bold colours. When my parents came to get me in the morning, I presented my masterpiece with so much pride they decided they couldn’t get mad at me and instead told me how lovely it was, but again urged me to direct it to paper. I often wonder what would have happened to my creativity had they yelled at me rather than encouraged me.

While I studied a few university classes, my real studies came from the fact that art has surrounded me and has always been a part of my world - mainly because of my Mum and sister, Abbie, who are both incredible multi-media artists. Mum ran art lessons in our garage while I was growing up. From there, I ended up running an art school for children when I was 19. Mum, Abbie, and I eventually set up an art studio together in 2014 after being asked to exhibit in a showcase in Newcastle. Over time, we have ended up with a consistent theme of 'Women and the Wild'.

Exhibitions I have been a part of include: She Went Wild Women's Adventure Expo, Gosford Regional Gallery, Central Coast Festival of Arts, UON, Raw Artist, The Edwards, and more. Works are in private collections in the US, UK, Germany, Niue, Vanuatu, Canada, and New Zealand.
